Dame Vera Baird has written to Sonia Crozier to set out her concerns around the lack of transparency in the criminal justice system for victims.

Following their meeting earlier this week, the Victims’ Commissioner, Dame Vera Baird QC, has written a to Sonia Crozier, the Chief Probation Officer, to outline her concerns about the lack of transparency in the criminal justice system and the impact this has on victims of crime. Particular areas of concern raised include sentencing of perpetrators and how victims can be kept better informed about a perpetrators’ progress through the prison system and eventual release.
