VC News issue 3 is out today

VC News, issue 3

Issue 3 of VC News is out today packed with the issues that Baroness Newlove champions on behalf of crime victims.

This month we report on the Victims Strategy which sets out the direction for victim services and support in the years ahead. Ben’s Legacy makes the case for why education is key in fighting the surge in knife crime, plus we talk to Pat Green, CEO from the anti-knife crime charity, the Ben Kinsella Trust who paints a bleak portrait of progress going backwards.

“Police say a few years ago, they dealt with a single stab wound, but are now seeing multiple stab wounds,” says Pat. “Attacks are becoming frenzied and that’s really worrying.

We’ve almost come full circle,” he adds. “After a decade of falling knife crime, we’ve seen what works and what happens if left unattended, how quickly it can escalate right back to where we started we started.” You can read the full report on page 3.

We also report on sex attack victims who endure intrusive disclosure of their past, and the VC Baroness Newlove and Dame Vera Baird are urging change to protect victims. Finally, Duncan Craig, CEO of Survivors Manchester is unequivocal on Why It’s More Than OK to Say #HeToo.
