Halving VAWG in 10 years: the principles that must underpin the Strategy

The Government has a strategic aim to halve violence against women and girls (VAWG) in a decade. To support this ambition, a new 10-year government Strategy is set to be published this autumn.
This paper outlines six foundational principles that the Victims’ Commissioner believes must underpin this Strategy if the Government is to deliver meaningful and lasting progress towards this aim.
Women and Equalities Committee’s inquiry, Misogyny: the manosphere and online content Evidence Submission

In a written submission to the inquiry on misogyny, the manosphere and online content, the Victims’ Commissioner warns that online misogyny is fuelling real-world harm against women and girls. She highlights the urgent need for stronger regulation of tech platforms, support for the proposed VAWG Code of Practice and greater accountability to prevent the normalisation of violent, harmful ideologies online.
Victims and Courts Bill Evidence Submission

Following her attendance at the Victims and Courts Bill Committee on 17 June, the Victims' Commissioner has also submitted further evidence in writing. The Victims' Commissioner welcomes all the measures in the Bill - including clauses 6-8, which expand the remit of the Victims’ Commissioner, whilst wishing for the Bill to be more ambitious in delivering change for victims - such as including anti-social behaviour and homicide abroad victims in the Victims' Code as well as a full-scale review of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.
