Published:
Open document

This written evidence submission details the Victims' Commissioner's priorities for the Crime and Policing Bill, including a number of concerns regarding the ASB Case Review and Respect Orders. The submission also highlights and recommends a number of measures in order to fulfil the requirements of the Independent Inquiry on Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).

The Crime and Policing Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 25 February 2025 and aims to support the delivery of government commitments such as halving knife crime and violence against women and girls (“VAWG”) in a decade. The Bill also intends to strengthen neighbourhood policing and increase public confidence in the police by creating new police powers in relation to certain crimes, including anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Having provided oral evidence to the Crime and Policing Bill Committee on 27th March 2025, the Victims’ Commissioner’s written evidence has now also been submitted. It can be read and accessed in full on this page.
