Victims’ Commissioner seeks new Chief Executive Officer

Applications are open for the role of CEO of the Office of the Victims’ Commissioner. Closing date 5 February 2021.

The Chief Executive Officer role is an exciting opportunity to lead the Office of the Victims Commissioner (OVC) in providing support and advice to this key statutory office holder.

Present CEO, Russell A’Court, is due to retire and his post is currently open to applications. Information on the role, the team, and the skills and experience required are available on the Justice Jobs website.

The Victims’ Commissioner plays an important role in promoting the interests of victims and witnesses, encouraging good practice in their treatment and reviewing the Code of Practice for Victims, as well as holding Government to account. The current Victims’ Commissioner is Dame Vera Baird QC. Dame Vera was appointed in June 2019 for a three-year term.

The postholder will be expected to have experience of working in the criminal justice system and be able to demonstrate a passion for supporting victims of crime. They will need to be keen to work with the Commissioner to make a real difference to the victim experience within the justice system.

Russell A’Court is happy to discuss the role further with any interested applicant. He can be contacted at russell.acourt@victimscommissioner.org.uk.

The deadline for applications is Friday 5 February 2021.
