Operation Bluestone Soteria survey on victim experiences of reporting to the police

Published:

Operation Bluestone Soteria is inviting victims of rape and other sexual offences to take part in a survey of the victim's experience of the police investigation and criminal justice process.

Victims of rape and other sexual offenses are invited to participate in a survey about their experiences with the police, as part of Operation Bluestone Soteria‘s study on victim experiences.

The survey is open to all victims of rape and other sexual offences aged 18 and over whose case the police know about. Your case may have just started, been ongoing for some time, or be closed.

The survey is an initiative of Operation Bluestone Soteria, a collaborative programme of work bringing together police forces and academics to improve the police response to rape. Those who have been victims of rape or serious sexual assault are being encouraged to complete an anonymous online survey to help the police better understand people’s experiences of reporting sexual violence.

Using evidence and victim insight, Operation Bluestone Soteria aims to transform the police response to rape and serious sexual offences. It was launched as a response to the government’s End-to-End Rape Review, and the Ministry of Justice pledge to increase the number of rape cases ending in a conviction.

The survey aims to give voice to victims and seeks to better understand how the process of reporting feels to victims of rape and other sexual offences. This is with a view to helping police forces to improve their response to investigating rape, including the ways in which police engage with victims.

The survey is being conducted by academics at London City University for Operation Bluestone Soteria. Read the Participant Information Sheet for more information
